Brocton
Bench Talk
Saturday 1 November 2003
A
warm welcome to everyone from Brocton for there first
ever visit to Tally Ho in this early November fixture.
Our
last two fixtures have been a complete contrast. Last
Saturday was a nil all affair with Nuneaton Griff here
at Tally Ho with both defences on top throughout and neither
side able to carve out a clear-cut chance.
Last
Tuesdays' game against Rushall Olympic Reserves in the
Birmingham Midweek Floodlit Cup was a performance of complete
contrast. Fifteen minutes of positive football saw us
3-0 up with goals from Slattery, Bellingham and Frost.
Unfortunately, the team thought we had the game won, took
their foot off the pedal and the inevitable happened as
Rushall got a goal back before the break and added another
soon after the re-start and then equalised 15 minutes
later.
It
looked like we had won the tie when we took the lead with
another Martin Slattery goal two minutes from time, however,
we then threw it all away by allowing an equaliser with
30 seconds to go. Rushall dominated extra-time with three
goals ending up 7-4 winners. I will keep my views to myself.
Let's leave it at that.
Richard
Frost, Stuart Evans and Lyndon Price all picked up injuries
that keep them out of today's game and there are also
doubts over Ian Millwards fitness. Mark Bellingham and
Steve Piearce are unavailable, so it looks like it is
going to be a case of all hands to the pumps for this
game.
We
hope that you enjoy the game and can make it down her
for the game on Thursday night for the game against Derbyshire
Police in the first round of the British Police Cup. Remember,
it is a 6pm kick off.
