It's over three weeks since we played a home game when we defeated Bolehall Swifts 1-0 with a much-depleted side. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then but we have to be pleased with our start to the season, especially when you consider our ever lengthening injury list.

The Bolehall win was followed by 2-0 wins away to Coleshill Town and Southam United, once again with depleted sides. Several players' have grabbed their opportunity to shine during this time and I have been pleasantly surprised with their performances as I now feel that it has increased the size of our squad. Our sound defence and overall defensive play has provided us with the platform to get those results and allied to a good work ethic we have got the results our performances deserved. We then travelled to Meir KA and came away with a 1-1 draw where we were even more depleted but battled our way to a deserved point. For those of you who could not make the game, I can confirm that your eyes are not deceiving you when you look through the programme. Yes, it was Paul Shaw who scored and with a 'belter' from just outside the box. He is probably saying it was somewhere near to the half-way line by now!

I missed the following game at Rugby Town where we went down by two goals to one where I gather we were outplayed in the first period but dominated the second half and with better finishing should at least have come away with a draw.

Last Saturday saw us go down 3-0 to Sandiacre Town in the FA Vase with a poor performance. We unfortunately gifted them all three goals and whilst we battled gamely in the last half-hour, it was all too late. Steve Piearce and Lyndon Price both have damaged ankle ligaments which now takes the injury list up to eight players'.

However, the great thing about our performances this season is that we have never felt sorry for ourselves and the team has always grafted and battled for each other and it's going to take more of the same over the coming weeks until the injury load lightens. We are not despondent about life as this type of a situation happens to most clubs at some time in a season and it is how you handle these difficult times that often determines just how good or bad a season you have. I am quietly confident that we have the character to emerge from this little spell with us still in contention in the league and having made progress in some of the cup competitions.

We hope that you enjoy the game and look forward to seeing you down here for the game against Coventry Sphinx.
