A
Paul Nicholls hat-trick put the league leaders on
their way to a five-star victory at the New Windmill
Ground in front of a crowd of 453.
The
Brakes applied the pressure from the start and Police
keeper Tony Workman had to pull off two good saves
to deny the home side and with the pressure still
on , Leamington took the lead in the 12th minute
when a Paul Nicholls shot rebounded off the post
to the waiting Brian Agar who hooked the ball into
the net. The Police goal then came under more pressure
with Workman called into action saving shot after
shot.
Mark
Delaney equalised for the Police in the 23rd minute
after Mark Bellingham had put him through and he
made no mistake as he drove the ball into the corner
of the net. West Mids then had their best spell
of the half, but disaster struck just before the
half time whistle when the visitors gave away a
penalty and Paul Nicholls gave Workman no chance
with a well taken spot kick.
The
second half saw West Mids keeper Tony Workman make
two good saves from John Burke and Brain Agar. The
Brakes took a 3-1 lead in the 58th minute with a
long shot and he then completed his hat-trick with
a glancing header.
The
Brakes fifth goal came on 85 minutes when their
Director of Football David Draper, who had come
on as a substitute, hit the net, and I believe it
was his first appearance in 20 years.
