West Mids determined effort to draw
clear of the relegation zone paid off with a well
fought win. Handrahan Timbers dominated the early
stages, forcing a corner after corner but Simon
Williams was in excellent form in the Police goal
saving headers and shots. In the 24th minute Huw
Lewis picked up a loose ball and fired into the
top corner of the net for the Timbers to take the
lead.
The Police battled back with a David
Blake equaliser when he fired a rocket-like shot
into the net. The second half was end to end and
the Police caught the Timbers on the break in the
73rd minute and Gavin Smith netted the winner in
a goalmouth scramble. David Blake and Mark Delaney
had shots saved by the Timbers goalkeeper and the
Police ran out worthy winners.
