AGE
NO BARRIER FOR 'KEEPER' MOORE
WEST
MIDLANDS POLICE: Gez MOORE, Ian GRIFFITHS, Peter LEE,

FARRELL,
James HEMSTOCK, Adam PERKINS, Mark DELANEY, Neil FLETCHER.
Subs: Grant NAISMITH, Martin SLATTERY, Derek McCLELLAND.
Good
wines, good whisky and good goalkeepers get better
with age and Gez Moore is no exception and his faultless
display helped West Mids Reserves to their first victory
of the season against a hard fighting Enville side.
Gez's
first big save came on 22 minutes, when Enville's
Bradd Cartwright swung in a searching cross but Gez
flung himself into a mass of flying boots to safely
clutch the ball. Three minutes later, Police took
the lead when Neil Fletcher and Steve Clements combined
well to release Mark Delaney on the left flank and
a superb cross to the far post was forced home by
Adam Perkins.
On
42 minutes, a miss-hit Enville back pass let in Delaney
who was upended by the visitors keeper, Tony Rides.
The keeper was sent off but Craig Littler drove the
resultant free kick just wide. On the stroke of half
time a long ball sent Enville's Chris Skidmore clear
but Gez Moore saved at his feet to prevent a certain
goal.
Five
minutes into the second half, Moore starred again,
in another one-on-one with Enville's Skidmore, he
spread himself to save with his legs.
Enville equalised on 54 minutes, when a Matthew Emery
shot towards the left hand corner was redirected on
the volley by Ian Hughes into the opposite corner
of the net, giving Gez Moore no chance.
The
Police winner came on 74 minutes, when Clements sent
in a superb angled free kick and Andrew McCord timed
his run to perfection to side foot the ball home on
the far post.
Gez
Moore had to make two more good saves. A one-on-one
with Enville substitute Chris Bocton and two minutes
into stoppage time Moore went full stretch to save
a fiercely struck free kick from the edge of the box.
