MIDLAND
FOOTBALL ALLIANCE
PREMIER DIVISION
West
Midlands Police 1, Romulus 2
West
Mids shook the league leader by taking an early lead on
14 minutes. Stuart Evans got the first touch to a long ball
and was bundled over by the combined efforts of keeper Neil
Olden and full-back Dennis Mulholand. Police appeals for
a penalty were quickly dropped as the loose ball bounced
into the unguarded net.
Romulus
equalised on 29 minutes when the police defence needlessly
gave the ball away on the edge of the box and Daryl Lewin
nipped in to slot the ball home from 12 yards although Police
keeper Ross Bate got a hand on the ball.
In
the second half West Mids concentrated on getting players
behind the ball with the hope of catching Romulus on the
break. However, Romulus scored the winning goal to keep
them top of the league, on 68 minutes when Mulholland swung
a free kick into a crowded area and Michael Batchelor rose
the higest to power home an unstoppable header.
