MIDLAND
FOOTBALL COMBINATION
PREMIER DIVISION
West
Midlands Police (0) 0 Nuneaton Griff (0) 0
Without
their main strike force of Steve Piearce and Mark Bellingham,
West Mids were made to fight a mainly stubborn defensive
battle against lively visitors Nuneaton Griff.
The
first chance of the game fell to west Mids on six minutes
when Ian Millward fed Gagy Bedi, who's cross to Martin Slattery
was side-footed over the bar from 10 yards.
Griff
then enjoyed most of the possession but resolute Police
defending broke down most attacks on the edge of the box
and Police keeper Ross Bate was not seriously troubled.
Police
did create another good chance in the first half when Bedi,
Andy Reece and Slattery combined well to set up Michael
Mason who saw his dipping drive go just over the bar.
The
second half followed the same pattern as the first with
the Police defence holding firm with Paul Probert and Richard
Frost outstanding while the West Mids forward line failed
to test Griff keeper Paul Grears with the few chances that
came their way.
