MIDLAND
FOOTBALL ALLIANCE
PREMIER DIVISION
West
Midlands Police 2 Continental Star 1
Both teams played well
in gale a force wind and the first half saw West Mids with
the wind behind their backs and they played some exciting
football to go in 1-0 up at half time. The Police pressured
the visitors and a Mark Bellingham drive was turned wide
and a Jon Adams corner was met by Richard Cox who saw his
header well saved by Nathan Woakes.
West Mids pressure paid off and in the 22nd
minute, Kevin Casson's free kick was controlled by Mark
Bellingham who unleashed a drive into the bottom corner
of the net.
The second half saw shots from both teams
well saved by the respective goalkeepers. Bellingham's pace
caused continued flutters in the Star's defence and Jon
Adams had a shot kicked off the goal line. Bellingham hit
the goal post as West Mids pushed forward for a second goal
which came in an exciting finish to the game when Martin
Brown raced through to score a brilliant goal to make it
2-0.
With only seconds remaining, Continental Star
surged forward from the re-start and from what looked to
be an offside position they crashed the ball into the Police
net, 2-1 and that's how the match ended.
