MIDLAND
FOOTBALL COMBINATION
PREMIER DIVISION
West
Midlands Police (1) 2 Massey Ferguson (0) 0
Two
goals from Steve Piearce, back following injury, gave West
Mids victory and swift revenge for last Saturday's League
Cup defeat at Massey Ferguson's Banner Lane ground.
Also
back in the police team, for his first game of the season,
was keeper Darren Carmell who played his part in a good
all round performance.
The
opening goal came on 10 minutes, when a deep Mark Bellingham
cross was met by Gagy Bedi's fierce goal bound header was
well saved by Massey keeper David Wright but the ball ran
loose and Piearce pounced to rifle the ball home from close
range.
The
game then flowed from end to end but both sets of defenders
played well and neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled.
West
Mids sealed the three points with a second goal on 81 minutes.
Breaking quickly from the back, the ball was played to Nick
Colley who in turn fed Bellingham who provided an inch perfect
cross for Piearce to shoot home from 3.5 metres out.
